Greinke Slams the Door on Bomba

Zack Greinke struck out seven over six innings of one-run ball Thursday as the Slammers continued to pressure Bomba entering the final three days of their Week 9 series.

Scully's Slammers 9, Los Coche Bomba 1

Greinke's quality start Thursday was important because Bomba is running out of opportunities. The team has just three starts remaining and trails the category by two. It looks like four of the six pitching categories will go to the Slammers so Bomba is going to need a great effort at the plate over the final three days. Miguel Cabrera did steal a base Thursday for Bomba to tie the category. Mark Buehrle will start Friday for the Slammers, who are simply hoping to avoid any disasters on the mound.

Lower Haighters 8, The Bulls 3

Carlos Gonzalez is keeping the Bulls in this series. He had a home run, three RBI, three runs scored and a stolen base Thursday. Marco Scutaro also homered and the Bulls are now close in home runs, stolen bases and RBI and could turn the series in their favor by winning those categories. Unfortunately, Bud Norris did not help the team's WHIP and ERA after giving up nine runs in 1.2 innings Thursday. Chris Capuano and Wei-Yen Chen start tonight for the Bulls while Felix Hernandez will pitch for the Lower Haighters.

Jersey Boys 8, HUMA 4

Jarrod Saltalamacchia hit a home run and drove in two runs Thursday to move HUMA closer in runs, RBI, and HRs and keep the pressure on the Jersey Boys heading into the weekend. The bullpen for the Jersey Boys has dominated this series and Kameron Loe earned the team's third hold on Thursday. Neither team has a starter on the mound tonight.

The Machine 8, Bacon at Mile 11 3

Recently acquired J.D. Martinez delivered a key home run Thursday as the Machine opened a little breathing room in the category while continuing to pressure Bacon for the RBI lead. Jerome Williams will pitch for Bacon tonight while Jake Peavy starts for the Machine.

The Cys 6, Marin Menehunes 6

It wasn't a thing of beauty, but Max Scherzer earned a key quality start Thursday that has the Menehunes back in this series. Scherzer did just enough, giving up three runs through six innings, to earn the QS. Johan Santana and Felipe Paulino will try to protect the category lead for the Menehunes tonight while CC Sabathia will make his final start for the Cys. Sabathia was traded earlier in the week to the Lower Haighters for Adam Dunn and some much needed power at the plate.

High Cheese 7, Vicious Fishes 4

The offensive categories remain very close and hold the key to winning this series. Prince Fielder delivered two RBI and a run Thursday for the Fishes, drawing them to within two of the RBI lead. If High Cheese wants a shot at winning the quality start category, it will need Derek Lowe and Adam Wainwright to pitch well tonight. The Fishes will try to protect the category lead with David Price.

Home Run 101 6, Twinkle Toes 5

This series will come down to pitching and speed on the base paths. Colby Lewis and Wade Miley start tonight for Home Run 101 while Madison Bumgarner takes the hill for Twinkle Toes. The two teams are tied in the quality start category. Saves and holds will be like gold this weekend as neither bullpen has been dominating through the first four days of the series.

A-Rod's Mirrors 9, Give it a Yankee 3

Two teams with one quality start between them will look to their respective starting staffs to earn points this weekend. On Thursday, Josh Beckett had his opportunity on the mound for Give it a Yankee and gave up four runs over seven innings. Tonight, the Mirrors will send ace Stephen Strasburg to the hill along with Kevin Correia. Two good performances will help the team protect category leads in quality starts, ERA, WHIP, and strikeouts.
