Jersey Boys Rally Around Veteran Pitchers, Hot Bats

The Jersey Boys have come alive. Over the past two weeks, pitcher R.A. Dickey has been the best player in fantasy baseball, tossing 25.1 innings of scoreless baseball while striking out 33 batters and earning three quality starts. Veteran Andy Pettitte also has three quality starts, allowing just four runs in his last 20.1 innings.

But this June run by the Jersey Boys wouldn't be as successful without the hot bats, as Los Coche Bomba discovered Monday.

Jersey Boys 8, Los Coche Bomba 2

Aaron Hill hit for the cycle Monday as the Jersey Boys jumped out to the early lead over Bomba. The sizzling Alfonso Soriano hit another home run and Brett Lawrie had a home run and a stolen base for the Jersey Boys. Matt Garza and Matt Harrison both had quality starts for Bomba but that may be it for the week. Starters Brandon Beachy, Derek Holland, and Alexi Ogando are all on the DL with various injuries. The Jersey Boys can steal another point from Bomba tonight when Justin Verlander, Hiroki Kuroda, and Aaron Harang all take the mound. Final Prediction: Jersey Boys 7, Los Coche Bomba 5.

HUMA 11, A-Rod's Mirrors 0

The Mirrors are running headlong into a red-hot Joey Votto. In his last 13 games, Votto has gone 22 for 49 with four home runs, 12 RBI, and 11 runs scored. On Monday, he was at it again, smashing another homer and scoring twice. The Mirrors are coming off a 4-7-1 loss to the Slammers (a loss that was accurately predicted by the BaseballMonster.com Oracle) and need to gain ground in a division that resembles a Three Stooges episode. They'll go with just four starting pitchers this week which makes tonight's start by Cole Hamels critical. The surprising Scott Diamond will take the mound tonight and try to sweep up the mess made of HUMA's ERA by Mat Latos. Final Prediction: HUMA 9, A-Rod's Mirrors 3.

High Cheese 4, Lower Haighters 3

Jay Bruce homered, scored three times, and drove in two runs while John Axford was solid in relief, earning a save, as High Cheese jumped to the early lead over the Lower Haighters. CC Sabathia pitched a complete game to earn a rare quality start for the Haighters on Monday, who are going with a four-man starting rotation this week. Joe Nathan also earned a save. Neither team will have a starter on the mound tonight, which means the bullpens will guard the ERA and WHIP. Final Prediction: Lower Haighters 10, High Cheese 2.

Home Run 101 6, The Machine 2

Wade Miley struck out eight and earned a quality start while setup men Sergio Romo and Vinnie Pestano each scored holds with scoreless relief pitching as Home Run 101 jumped to the lead over the Machine Monday night. Matt Cain failed to repeat his perfect game for the Machine Monday and failed to earn a quality start, which is rare. Jake Peavy and Daniel Hudson will have an opportunity to give the Machine the Quality Start and Strikeout lead when they pitch tonight. At the plate, Jose Bautista and Shin-Soo Choo both homered for the Machine. Final Prediction: The Machine 8, Home Run 101 4.

Bacon at Mile 11 9, Marin Menehunes 2

Bacon had an opportunity Monday to steal the Quality Start lead but Hector Noesi and Jerome Williams both stumbled. That opens the door for the Menehunes, who start Johan Santana, Barry Zito, and Clay Buchholz tonight. Lance Lynn, who has turned into the ace of the staff for Bacon, also gets a start. Mike Trout continues to impress for Bacon, stealing three bases Monday. Final Prediction: Bacon at Mile 11 6, Marin Menehunes 6.

The Cys 5, Twinkle Toes 2

The Cys benched wunderkind shortstop Starlin Castro and he responded Monday with a home run, three runs and two RBI. Sonavabench! On the mound, Brett Myers was shelled for Twinkle Toes, finishing the night with a 67.50 ERA and 12.00 WHIP. It's safe to say this series is off to a rollicking start. The Cys will pitch C.J. Wilson against the bulk of the Toes offense tonight, along with Edinson Volquez. Veteran Tim Hudson will start for the Toes. Final Prediction: The Cys 7, Twinkle Toes 5.

Vicious Fishes 7, Give it a Yankee 2

Home runs by Bryan LaHair and Paul Konerko and three RBI from Derek Jeter have the Fishes out to a fast start. Chris Perez had a save Monday to lead Give it a Yankee. Both teams are fighting injuries on the mound. Drew Smyly and Josh Beckett are on the DL for Give it a Yankee while relievers Javy Guerra and Henry Rodriguez are hurt for the Fishes. David Price starts tonight for the Fishes while Wandy Rodriguez and Luke Hochevar pitch for Give it a Yankee. Final Prediction: Vicious Fishes 8, Give it a Yankee 4.

The Bulls 7, Scully's Slammers 1

Veteran second baseman Ryan Theriot drove in two runs and stole a base while Santiago Casilla earned a save to lift the Bulls to an early lead over the Slammers in the week's only meeting of division leaders. Mark Teixeira hit a home run for the Slammers as did Edwin Encarnacion, who was sitting in the dugout. Sonavabench! Each team will have a starter on the mound tonight. Mark Buehrle throws for the Slammers while Shaun Marcum is scheduled to take the hill for the Bulls, though it's possible Marcum's start could be skipped due to injury. Final Prediction: Scully's Slammers 9, The Bulls 3.
